The Department for Pedagogical Work and Public Relations was founded in 1969 as the Pedagogical Service, with the basic task of making the rich cultural heritage preserved by the Museum accessible to all structures of society. From its foundation to the present day, the department has been continuously working with visitors of all age categories to introduce and popularize the museum’s contents, interpret the permanent exhibition and thematic exhibitions. 

In 2005, the department grew into the Pedagogical-Informative Department and its work became more complex: in cooperation with educational, cultural and scientific institutions, the Department organizes and implements the museum’s educational activities, designs and implements educational programs intended for the public. Cooperation with pre-school institutions, primary and secondary schools and the stay of children and young people in the museum area, independently or in cooperation with curators, is especially cherished.

Within the Department, numerous contents are designed and implemented, such as: creative workshops (for school-age children, families and seniors), presentations, mini-exhibitions, exhibitions of children’s works, workshops organized as part of thematic exhibitions, educational program “School in a museum – museum as a classroom”, as well as various projects dedicated to young people. For the audience made up of people with disabilities (blind, partially sighted, deaf, hard of hearing, with developmental disabilities, etc.), specially adapted guidance and workshops are organized. 

An essential segment of the Department’s work is cooperation with the media and various ways of informing visitors. In addition to invitations and posters, announcements, reports, presentations and appearances on local, regional and national radio and television stations, the use of social networks and internet campaigns are an unavoidable way of communicating with the public today.
