Conservation Department

The conservation service of the museum exists since the years of fifties of the twentieth century, when it was just a preparation workshop with one employee. A significant turning point in the development of the Conservation Department took place after 2003, when a number of concrete measures were taken to improve its work – equipping it with the most modern tools and strengthening its staff with professional staff. It was at that time that the foundations of the Department for Conservation and Restoration of the National Museum of Zrenjanin were laid in the form in which it still exists and functions today.

Caring for museums objects, which includes extending their lifespan (conservation) and returning objects to their original state (restoration), is the main activity of the Department for Conservation and Restoration of the National Museum of Zrenjanin, which makes it one of the primary departments for the daily work and functioning of this institution. . It is a very sensitive and often complicated business, which takes place away from the public eye, i.e. Museum visitors.
