Study visit to Herceg Novi realized

Representatives of the National Museum of Zrenjanin recently have attended a study visit to Herceg Novi as a part of project. During the visit numerous activities were carried out. The study visit was realized within the project “Festivals as a new multi-sector practice in the preservation of the cultural heritage of the Western Balkans” implemented by the Museum of Zrenjanin, with the support of the British Council Serbia.

Representatives of the National Museum of Zrenjanin recently have attended a study visit to Herceg Novi as a part of project. During the visit numerous activities were carried out. The study visit was realized within the project “Festivals as a new multi-sector practice in the preservation of the cultural heritage of the Western Balkans” implemented by the Museum of Zrenjanin, with the support of the British Council Serbia.
The representatives of the Zrenjanin National Museum presented the work of the institution in all aspects with an emphasis on the ethnological department, since the project within which the visit was carried out is focused on the topic of preservation and promotion of cultural heritage through the festival format. The main topic of the presentation was the festival “Banat Days Flow”, which makes the National Museum of Zrenjanin a pioneer among public museums in Serbia with its own festival of cultural heritage.

Several meetings and consultations related to the project implementation were held, altogether with two trainings were executed in the field of knowledge transfer and capacity building of museum experts, employees of public cultural institutions and representatives of the civil sector in the field of festival management. Training were facilitated by the Pprject Manager and the Communication Director of the project.
The host organized sight-seeing of all important locations in Herceg Novi in ​​order to assess the capacity for the organization of a festival in the field of cultural heritage, such as the Forte Mare fortress, the old mill, the “Galeb” villa and other locations. The team also visited the Savina Monastery in order to compare the usual practices in the celebration of Christmas holidays, which are an important part of the cultural heritage of Serbia and Montenegro, but also the significant aspect of the CHESNICA Christmas Cake Festival, which is realized by the partner association, the Office for Cultural Diplomacy.

The project “Festivals as a new multi-sectoral practice in preserving the cultural heritage of the Western Balkans” was supported by the British Council in Serbia, in cooperation with UNESCO and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.
