Jelena Gvozdenac Martinov

Jelena Gvozdenac Martinov, Graduate Artist, graduated in painting at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad in 2000 before enrolling in postgraduate studies in Drawing at the same institution.

In 2002 she earned her master’s degree in Drawing with her thesis “Obverse, Portrait, Reverse.” In 2001, she worked as a teacher of fine arts in primary school in Zrenjanin. From 2003 to 2004, she was engaged as an intern at the National Museum in Zrenjanin, following which she was appointed as a Painter-restorer. From 2006 to 2007, she led professional training at the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments – Petrovaradin. In 2007, she passed the state exam at the Museum of Vojvodina in Novi Sad, acquiring the professional title of Painter-restorer. In 2018, she earned her advanced standing in this regard with her treatise “The Role of the Restorer in Creating Permanent Exhibitions of the National Museum Zrenjanin,” presented at the National Museum in Belgrade.

Jelena Gvozdenac Martinov served as the Director of the National Museum Zrenjanin from 2016 to 2021. She is a member of the Museum Society of Serbia, the Society of Conservators of Serbia, and ALUZ. In addition to restorations of paintings on wood and canvas, she is also a professional painter, with many solo and group exhibitions in Serbia and abroad. She has also participated in many creative workshops for children and adults over the past fifteen years. She has served as the coordinator for 28 projects implemented in the National Museum Zrenjanin, most notably the reconstruction of the atrium of the National Museum in Zrenjanin and the realization of the project of the Agricultural Museum in Zrenjanin.

She is currently serving as the Coordinator and Representative of the museum in the Erasmusplus partnership project “Train2Sustain.”
